Famous Surfer, Andy Irons Dies at 32

The 3-time world surfing champion, Andy Irons died last Tuesday, November 2, 2010, leaving a pregnant wife. According to reports, the once most popular athlete in the world of surfing was found dead at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport during a layover en route to his home on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. He was returning from Puerto Rico, where he was to compete in the 2010 Rip Curl Pro Search. He withdrew citing an illness he contracted in Portugal.

An autopsy is yet to be done still but rumors has it that the cause of death may also be drug related especially that a police report revealed that prescription drugs Xanax, an anti-anxiety medication, and the sleeping aid Ambien were found in the room.

Born on July 24, 1978, Andy Irons won three world titles, three Quiksilver Pro France titles, two Rip Curl Pro Search titles and 19 Elite Tour victories. He also won the Billabong Pro in Tahiti on September 3, 2010.
