Such a needless waste.
What you see above is probably the most thoroughly destroyed vehicle I have ever seen. It is also such a senseless, needless tragedy. Geoff Hart, 41, his wife Christy, also 41, their biological daughter Rebeka, 12, and two foster daughters aged 6 and 4 perished in the crash which occurred last Sunday while the family was returning home from church.
What I find equally as disturbing as the above photo is what transpired. The Hart's minivan (the mangled wreckage you see above) was traveling northbound on a street called Custer Road. They had the green light at the intersection with Legacy Drive in Plano, TX. A 46 year-old man from Metarie Louisiana who was running late to pick up his daughter from his ex-wife's house ran the red light at this same intersection.
He was driving his rented Pontiac at a very high rate of speed according to witnesses. In fact, the investigation has determined he impacted the van at a speed of 98 miles per hour. He swerved to pass other cars that were stopped at the light, imagine that, and when he did he lost control of the car and struck a fire hydrant. At this point, the driver became largely insignificant to the event because the car was now a great big airborne projectile traveling at an obscene rate of speed. The Pontiac entered the side of the minivan through the van's side windows at window level and came out on the other side. At this point, the Pontiac projectile ricocheted off of a Chevy Silverado (the white truck in the photo) and continued to travel through the air until it landed on the other side of Custer Road. The Hart family most likely never knew what hit them.
The driver of the Pontiac was hospitalized in critical condition after the wreck. However, he has since recovered enough to be charged with 5 counts of manslaughter. For what? Trying to make up a few extra minutes? We all have sped at times, myself included. We have been fortunate enough though to not be involved in something as horrific as this accident. We need to ask ourselves, is gaining a few extra minutes worth the possible consequences? I don't think so. But if you don't believe me, ask the friends and family of Geoff and Christy Hart. Ask the people of Custer Road United Methodist Church where the Hart's were members. They will undoubtedly tell you no.
Think about this the next time you think about speeding or blowing through an intersection. the life you save may be that of an innocent family who does not deserve to die because of your stupidity.

It's just not natural
Some people in our society are so convinced that homosexuality is normal and natural. They try their hardest to convince the rest of us of this too. If all of these people would simply take a good look at the animal kingdom, they would just how far off base they are.
Looking at the animals, you will never see gay horses, birds, cattle, or even the monkeys that some of these same poor misguided morons also say we evolved from. In this regard, the animals are of a much superior intellect than some humans. They've got it figured out. They get it. You can't procreate and further your species if you get two males or two females of that same species together. It just doesn't work. Neither animals nor humans were designed this way by their Creator. Yes, that's right I said Creator. You know, God, the main guy in the Bible? No human was ever born or created to be gay. It is a choice. It is a choice the the Bible calls an abomination.
So, let's all let the animals be our guide and let them show us the way. At least they are smart enough to live their lives the way God created them too. That's more than I can say for some humans.

Obama Wants Change?
Presumptive Democrat Presidential Nominee Barack Obama is running on a platform of "change". His supporters are clammering for "change". None of them, however, are explaining or defining just exactly what kind of "change" they are seeking. Allow me to do so. They want to "change" everything that makes America the greatest nation on the planet. Now, someone please tell me, what's so wrong with America that such drastic "change" is required? On second thought, save your breath, it can't be done.
Obama, his party, and is supporters flatly, steadfastly, and wholeheartedly reject and oppose the very ideals and principles that America was founded upon. He wants to force socialism upon us to try to get us all to reject America's greatness like he has. He wants to create the socialist utopia that he has deluded himself into thinking we all want. He wants us all to depend on government for any and everything we want and need, instead of working hard to earn, obtain, and acquire them. He wants collectivism instead of individualism. That is the kind of change we don't want or need. That is the kind of change that will destroy America as we know it.
America has long been the country to which those people who are brave enough to flee their failed socialist utopias and tyrannical dictators have come to. So tell me, if Obama and his ilk are successful in getting elected and making America just another in a long line of lumbering third world socialist hell holes as they actively seeking to do, the kind of place freedom loving people free from, where exactly are we going to go to when the time comes to flee??
How's this for an idea? Let's all go to the poles in November and vote. Vote against Obama and socialism. I know, I know, the choice between Obama and McCain is similar to choosing between Satan and Beelzebub. However, for the sake of protecting America's sovereignty and legacy of greatness, we must hold our collective nose and vote for the lesser of the two evils, John McCain. McCain may open the flood gates for continued invasion by illegal immigrants, but so will Obama. Obama will also force socialism on us, so, in the long run, we will be far less damaged by a McCain presidency than we will be by Obama.

Goodbye old friend.
R.I.P. "Snickers" 1991 - 2008
She was a good cat, a friend, a part of the family. Old age was not very kind to her in the end and this morning it came time to do the right thing and release her from her suffering. Even though she was living with my ex-wife and my daughter, I still considered her my cat too. She will be missed. Rest in peace Ms. Snickers. You deserve rest and peace. And, I am confident I'll see you again when I get to Heaven. Save me a spot, just don't scratch the furniture in the mansion ;) Just kidding. She was declawed so that would be kind of hard to do!

Remembering Tim Russert
Wow. What's next? Tim Russert's untimely passing earlier today definitely leaves a huge void in the world of broadcasting. Russert was the consummate broadcaster, known for his aggressive, hard-hitting interviewing style. Those close to him say he was also a very gregarious, outgoing person. A devoted husband and father. While I rarely agreed with him politically, I recognize his influence and power in the world of journalism. He will certainly be missed by his friends, colleagues, fans, and most of all his family.

Biography
Anastacia Newkirk was born September 17, 1973, in New York to a Broadway actress mother and father who was a singer on the East Coast. Her talent and desire for being a performer was not only in her genes, but helped her embrace the form of expression and passion that being an artist entails.
She claims that as a young girl she didn't want to be a singer, but her future career was foreshadowed by Anastacia singing along to her mother's Barbra Streisand and Elton John records and exercising her writing skills by trying her hand at poetry.
Once Anastacia moved back to Manhattan at the age of 14 (after having been raised by her mother following her parents' divorce), she attended the Professional Children's School. There, she claims to have been the only student who wasn't already working in the industry.
Although she wasn't necessarily working in the industry per se, she was making herself known by becoming a regular at 1018, a dance club in New York. She and her sister would attend and dance at the local clubs, which explains Anastacia's influence of house and "freestyle" music. It was at these clubs that Anastacia became attached to freestyle, as she would dance to the music and let herself get lost in the music.
Her love for house and similar forms of rhythmic music led to her appearances on Club MTV, which was American Bandstand à la MTV. She also danced in two Salt-N- Pepa videos, "Everybody Get Up" and "Twist and Shout".
Her frequent attendance at 1018 is what led to her big break. There, a producer noticed her dancing and asked her if she could also sing -- which, as can be heard on her hit debut album, she can. One of the first producers that Anastacia worked with was O.G. Pearce, who produced her song "One More Chance". Although Pearce's interpretation was successful and sounded the way Anastacia intended it to, she did not end up getting signed to Pearce's production company.
It all changed for Anastacia in 1998, when her manager encouraged her to enter The Cut, another MTV show, this time styled after Star Search. Performing a song that she wrote, Anastacia ended up as one of the 10 finalists out of 160 contestants; similar to the way singer CoCo Lee broke into the music industry.
Although Anastacia did not win, she impressed such artists such as Michael Jackson. After meeting with the presidents of different record labels, she finally signed with Daylight Records, one of Epic Records' labels.
Not That Kind, Anastacia's debut album, was released on June 13, 2000, and has already spawned the hit single "I'm Outta Love". The album is in a category of its own blending pop, R&B, dance, rock, and highlights Anastacia's unique, soulful voice that is rarely found on a white woman. Ric Wake, who has worked with such hit makers such as Mariah Carey and Celine Dion collaborates on the album as well.
Anastacia has a tattoo of the Egyptian symbol of eternal life surrounded by the sun on the small of her back, and she seems to have a passion for butterflies.
