Amy Winehouse offered weird gig

Amy Winehouse has been offered £350,000 to perform at the "world's weirdest club".

The troubled 'Rehab' singer is set to pocket the large sum after being asked to sing at the September opening night of Watt club in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The unique venue is powered entirely by human energy.

Owner Aryan Tieleman confirmed: "It is as good as certain."

A source explained how the venue will operate, telling Britain’s The Sun newspaper: "The energy will come from urine and sweat from the visitors.

Toilets will be flushed by rainwater.

"The club is set in the biggest drugs circuit in Holland. It is so out there it might even shock Amy."

Meanwhile, Amy is set to buy Wheeler End Studios at Huckenden Farm, in Berkshire, England, for £3 million.

The famous recording studio has played host to numerous musicians, including Oasis, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Robbie Williams.

The five-acre property has been put on the market and Amy has already booked a viewing.

Suzanne Lee Barnes - who owns the 16th century home, which boasts six-bedrooms and two studios, with boyfriend Geoff Coupland - said: "What I want more than anything is to see it sold to someone who intends to carry on using it as a recording studio."

The pair decided to sell-up after Oasis stopped recording there.

Geoff explained: "Oasis have been with us for seven years. I think it was time to move on. Bands are always looking for new inspiration."

Amy vows to quit drugs

Amy Winehouse has vowed to quit drugs following the sudden death of singer Corinne Bailey Rae's husband.

The troubled 'Rehab' singer has been shocked into seeking help after her saxophonist friend Jason Rae - who was once a backing musician for Amy with his band The Haggis Horns - was discovered dead from a suspected drugs overdose on Saturday (22.03.08).

A friend told Britain's Daily Express newspaper: "Amy sacked Jason because he was so out of it and now it's her own life that has spun out of control.

"The scenario is no different. Amy takes the same substances with which Jason plied himself. She says she can't believe this happened and that she is still alive - and she can't let this be her future.

"She sees it as a wake-up call that she must stop."

Amy has been in and out of rehab over the past eight months. Her most recent stint was a two-week stay at London's Capio Nightingale Hospital earlier this year.

Yesterday (26.03.08), Amy visited husband Blake Fielder-Civil - who is incarcerated at London's Pentonville Prison awaiting trial on charges of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and perverting the course of justice - looking worryingly thin with nasty sores on her face and cuts on her arms.

Amy's spokesperson insists Amy is suffering from the bacterial skin
infection impetigo.

What is so good about Good Friday?

The Friday before Easter is commonly known as "Good Friday". It is the time when Christians commemorate the death of Jesus on the cross. And of course Easter is the time Christians celebrate Jesus' resurrection from the dead. Did this really happen? And what is so "good" about someone dying anyway? We typically mourn people's deaths, don't we?. So, what gives here?

I'll tell you what gives here, only the most miraculous, selfless, and loving act anyone could commit. The fact is Jesus did die on a cross. He died in our place as a sacrifice for our sins. Without Jesus' death on the cross there would be no salvation. We have all sinned, and we all need salvation. God loved us enough that He sent Jesus to take our place on the cross, so that by our acceptance of His redemptive act, we could spend eternity in Heaven.

Yes, Jesus really did rise from the dead. God raised Him up and Jesus ascended up to Heaven to prepare a place for those of us who choose to accept Him as our Lord and Savior. Then the Spirit of Christ, a.k.a. the Holy Spirit came so that through Him we might have access to all of the power of God's kingdom. Wow! Pretty amazing. And here in America, supposedly a Christian nation, all this time we thought Easter was about some silly little rabbit with colored eggs. How did we get so far off base? Could it be because of the efforts made to totally remove all mention of God from our schools and society at large? Just a thought.

Regardless of what the politically correct (actually the morally and spiritually bankrupt) say Easter is about Jesus and nothing else. Think about it!!

Have a great Easter!!!

This came in our email recently. I thought it was worth sharing! Jim

Windfall Tax on Retirement Income

Hold on to your pocketbooks!!

Anyone who understands a fiat monetary system, our system, knows that most retirement funds lose real value and are not exactly what a person hopes for at the end of their work life. Some are, and those typically go to people in the public sector. We contribute greatly to those through a myriad of taxes.

Adding a tax to your retirement is simply another way of saying to the American people, you're so stupid that we're going to keep doing this until we drain every cent from you. That's what the Speaker of the House is saying. Read below...............

Nancy Pelosi wants a Windfall Tax on Retirement Income. This woman is a nut case! You aren't going to believe this

Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement fund, 401Ks and Mutual Funds! Alas, it is true - all to help the 12 Million Illegal Immigrants and other unemployed Minorities!

Boy, are we in trouble... This woman is frightening. She quotes.." We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest."

When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied : "We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long ways to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'."

Send it on to your friends. I just did!! This lady is out of her mind

Amy's neighbours selling up

Amy Winehouse's neighbours are selling up because they have had enough of the constant parties.

The troubled 'Rehab' singer moved to the quiet residential street in Camden, North London, just six weeks ago but has already caused the owners of the house next door to put their property on the market.

A source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: 'The neighbours are fed up with the constant noise and rumpus. There is always loud music and parties with people coming and going into the small hours. 'Before Amy showed up it was a peaceful street with nice, quiet, normal neighbours, now she has disrupted their lives.

'The owners are very concerned their property will plummet in value.' The three-floor mews house, which the owners rent out to tenants, has an asking price of £725,000.

A spokesperson for the 24-year-old star blamed paparazzi for the disruption saying: 'Unfortunately Amy is followed by photographers wherever she goes. They wait outside for her at all hours of the night. Sadly, it's not something she can do anything about.'

Meanwhile, Amy's husband Blake Fielder-Civil - who is currently in London's Pentonville Prison awaiting trial on charges of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and conspiracy to pervert

Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz in suicide attempt

Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz recently spoke to MTV how he once attempted suicide.

'I got in my car. I remember I was listening to Jeff Buckley doing Leonard Cohen's 'Hallelujah' and sat there and took a bunch of [anxiety drug] Ativan in a Best Buy parking lot,' the 28-year-old explained.

'And I called up my manager because I was, at that point, completely out of my head with Ativan. And I was talking to him and I was slurring my words, so he called my mom and my mom called me and she came and got me and we went to the hospital.

Winehouse's services sought by Clooney and Roberts

Amy Winehouse is on the verge of a massive career and financial boost courtesy of George Clooney and Julia Roberts - who have been assigned to recruit the troubled singer for an exclusive New York event.

Party host and fashion designer Giorgio Armani has asked the Hollywood pair - who are co-chairs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute, where the event will be held on 5 May - to offer the 'Back To Black' star $1m (€634,000) to perform.

A source tells British newspaper The Sun: "Giorgio has made it no secret to his friends that he would love to work with Amy.

"He sees this party as an ideal opportunity to sound her out about future projects together."

Winehouse has been absent from the live circuit in recent months - in November she quit her British tour, and in January she was admitted to rehab amid reports her drug taking had spiralled out of control.

Amy to get £500,000 to sing for Julia Roberts

Amy Winehouse will get £500,000 to sing for George Clooney and Julia Roberts.

The troubled 'Rehab' singer has been offered the staggering sum to perform at the Costume Institute Gala Benefit at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 5, organised by institute co-chairs George and Julia.

A source said: "Amy was taken aback when she learned that George Clooney and Julia Roberts were after her.

"Their representatives have been phoning her offices and sending dozens of emails to convince her to take part. She's seriously considering their generous offer.

"She hasn't really taken it in - and keeps saying that her life is getting more surreal by the second." The glitzy bash is being hosted by fashion designer and honorary chair Giorgio Armani, who is a huge fan of the Grammy Award winner and pleaded with organisers to ask her to be involved.

The source added: "Giorgio has made no secret to his friends that he would love to work with Amy. He sees this party as an ideal opportunity to sound her out about future projects together."

Amy's potential £500,000 pay packet is dwarfed by what some other musicians charge for private performances. The Rolling Stones demand up to £4 million - making them the most expensive party act on the planet.

The Eagles charge £3.75 million, while Canadian singer Celine Dion can command up to around £3.3 million.

Update to "7 new sins"

Noticeably absent from the Pope's declaration of "7 new sins" was the sin of priests misusing young boys. I'm wondering, does he not view that as a sin?? Or is it more standard operating procedure? It's a question that needs an answer.

Seven new sins??

The Pope has apparently identified 7 "new" sins according to reports from the Vatican. They are;

1.) genetic modifications
2.) human experimentation
3.) polluting the environment
4.) social injustice.
5.) causing poverty
6.) financial gluttony
7.) taking drugs.

So, I guess this means Pope Benedict knows better than God what is and isn't a sin? Maybe I'm wrong or I missed something here, but I thought God did a pretty good job of spelling out what is and isn't a sin in the Bible. I guess I'm wondering who died and made the pope God??

Let's look at these seven "new" sins one by one. Let's also keep in mind that none of these things are new. Genetic modifications. This has always been a sin because God knew how we are supposed to function and designed us accordingly. To tamper with or otherwise alter God's design is to assert that we know better than He does. This explanation also covers new sin number 2, human experimentation.

Number three is polluting the environment. God has always told us we are supposed to be good stewards of everything He has given us and that includes our planet and environment. To knowingly and purposely harm it is wrong. It is not a new sin though. If you ask Pope Benedict though, he will say that all of us Americans driving around in our evil, gas guzzling SUV's are sinning against the environment. All of our factories that produce the goods that drive our economy are committing sin because they allegedly produce pollutants. If he means that prosperity and progress and freedom are sins against political correctness, then he is right. Otherwise he's so far off base there's no finding his way back.

Now we come to social injustice. It's wrong for some people to prosper and have nicer things while others have next to nothing. So I guess the Pilgrims who came here seeking freedom and prosperity were the original sinners in this regard? This is what drives the American dream, working hard and being prosperous. Not government, or the church, deciding its not fair for some to have more than others. Proclaiming this a sin is a sin against common sense.

If causing poverty is a sin then Liberal Democrat politicians are the biggest sinners ever. Liberalism causes people to suffer because of higher taxes. It punishes those who succeed by taking their hard earned money and redistributing it those who didn't lift a finger to earn it. Liberalism chokes the life out of the economy. It creates a dependency class and causes it to thrive by telling its members that they cant succeed without the "help" of a government that purposely keeps them down trodden in order to retain its power.

I guess Bill Gates and Warren Buffet will rot in Hell if financial gluttony is a sin. I guess this means there are no rich Catholics. The Bible does not say that money is the root of all evil. It doesn't even say that having a lot of money is wrong. "I have come that you might have life, and have it more abundantly." John 10:10. Those are the words of Jesus. He was not talking exclusively about money in this passage, but it certainly applies. If being prosperous, dare I say even blessed by God is a sin, then God must be the chief of sinners in the warped mind of the Pope.

It is true that taking drugs is wrong, but it certainly is not a new sin. The Bible tells us that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit and we are supposed to respect it as such. To knowingly take illegal drugs has always been a sin. There is however, nothing at all wrong with taking drugs prescribed by a doctor. Perhaps the Pope needs to clarify his stance on this a bit.

The Pope's new decree seriously calls his credibility into question. The decree itself is an egregious sin against common sense, logic, and even scripture itself. Not only that, but the Pope is taking some things right out of the left-wing environmental wacko liberal Democrat talking points and trying to put the force religious law behind them. That is the biggest sin that has been committed here. Somehow I don't think we'll be seeing him in confession anytime soon though. If Catholicism wasn't already already discredited, this should just about do it.

This is how they are taking over Texas one illegal at a time......

This arrived in our email recently and I thought it was worth sharing. I'm not sure of it's origin or it's validity, but nevertheless it is still thought provoking.....................................Jim

They don't just have their sights on Texas! It is the whole United States of America! Amnesty? I think NOT!

Here is a REAL INTERVIEW with an illegal Mexican at a protest march in Texas ..

The reporter is trying to reason with an Illegal Mexican! This is good! Below is a good example of a discussion with a master of circular logic. Don 't be logical, don't respect the truth or your adversary, just say what you think makes a new case when the previous case gets too difficult to defend. On the streets of downtown Houston , May 1, 2007.

Jim Moore reporting for a Houston TV station:

Jim: Juan, I see that you and thousands of other protesters are marching in the streets to demonstrate for your cause. Exactly what is your cause and what do you expect to accomplish by this protest?

Juan: We want our rights. We will show you how powerful we are. We will bring Houston to its knees!

Jim: What rights?

Juan: Our right to live here...legally. Our right to get all the benefits you get.

Jim: When did you come to the United States ?

Juan: Six years ago. I crossed over the border at night with seven other friends.

Jim: Why did you come?

Juan: For work. I can earn as much in a month as I could in a year in Mexico. Besides, I get free health care, our Mexican children can go to school free, if I lose my job I will get Welfare, and someday I will have the Social Security. Nothing like that in Mexico!

Jim: Did you feel badly about breaking our immigration laws when you came?

Juan: No! Why should I feel bad? I have a right to be here. I have a right to amnesty. I paid lots of money for my Social Security and Green Cards.

Jim: How did you acquire those documents?

Juan: From a guy in Dallas He charged me a lot of money too.

Jim: Did you know that those documents were forged?

Juan: It is of no matter. I have a right to be here and work.

Jim: What is the "right" you speak of?

Juan: The right of all Aliens. It is found in your Constitution. Read it!

Jim: I have read it, but I do not remember it saying anything about rights for Aliens.

Juan: It is in that part where it says that all men have Alien rights, like the right to pursue happiness. I wasn't happy in Mexico , so I came here.

Jim: I think you are referring to the declaration of Independence and

that document speaks to unalienable rights .. Not Alien rights.

Juan: Whatever.

Jim: Since you are demanding to become an American citizen, why then are you carrying a Mexican Flag?

Juan: Because I am Mexican.

Jim: But you said you want to be given amnesty .. to become a US citizen.

Juan: No. This is not what we want. This is our country, a part of Mexico that you Gringos stole from us. We want it returned to its rightful owner.

Jim: Juan, you are standing in Texas . After wining the war with Mexico , Texas became a Republic, and later Texans voted to join the USA. It was not stolen from Mexico .

Juan: That is a Gringo lie. Texas was stolen. So was California, New Mexico and Arizona It is just like all the other stuff you Gringos steal, like oil and babies. You are a country of thieves.

Jim: Babies? You think we steal babies?

Juan: Sure. Like from Korea and Vietnam and China I see them all over the place. You let all these foreigners in, but try to keep us Mexicans out. How is this fair?

Jim: So, you really don't want to become an American citizen then.

Juan: I just want my rights! Everyone has a right to live, work, and speak their native language wherever and whenever they please. That's another thing we demand. All signs and official documents should be in Spanish.
Teachers must teach in Spanish. Soon, more people here in Houston will speak Spanish than English. It is our right!

Jim: If I were to cross over the border into Mexico without proper documentation, what rights would I have there?

Juan: None. You would probably go to jail, but that's different.

Jim: How is it different? You said everyone has the right to live
wherever they please.

Juan: You Gringos are a bunch of land grabbing thieves. Now you want Mexico too? Mexico has its rights. You Gringos have no rights in Mexico. Why would you want to go there anyway? There is no free medical service, schools, or welfare there for foreigners such as you. You cannot even own land in my country. Stay in the country of your birth.

Jim: I can see that there is no way that we can agree on this issue. Thank you for your comments.

Juan: Viva Mexico !

Pass this along to every American citizen in your address books and to every representative in the state and federal government. If you choose to remain uninvolved, do not be amazed when you no longer have a nation to call your own nor anything you have worked for left since it will be "redistributed" to the activists while you are so peacefully

staying out of the "fray".

Check history, it is full of nations/empires that disappeared when its citizens no longer held their core beliefs and values. One person CAN make a difference. One plus one plus one plus one plus one plus one........

The battle for our secure borders and immigration laws that actually mean something, however, hasn't even begun.
...And If this ticks YOU off...PASS IT ON

Amy's father blames himself

Amy Winehouse's father believes his extra-marital affair ruined her childhood.

Mitch Winehouse admits he made his daughter's early life difficult by cheating on her mother Janis for eight years, before leaving the family home to live with his mistress Jane in 1993.

He said: "The affair was in the open and the children used to call Jane 'Daddy's work wife'. I did not leave home until Amy was ten so the situation occurred for eight or nine years before I left home. It was difficult.

"I didn't realise what effect my behaviour had on her until I heard her song 'What Is It About Men', with the line 'All the s**t my mother went through', which obviously referred to me."

However, Mitch - who married Jane in 1996 - insists he is not to blame for his daughter's current battle with drink and drugs, and even thinks his affair inspired her talent.

He revealed to BBC TV show 'One Life: Rock Star Parents': "She couldn't articulate what was wrong in words but she certainly did with her music.

"What she is going through at the moment is terrible. She could die horribly, but that cannot happen.

"I think she would have found her way here one way or another without any help from me though.

"It is easy for me to say it is my fault, and that had I been a better parent this would not have happened. But who knows whether it would or not?"

Amy, 24, entered a London rehab clinic in January after footage of her smoking what appeared to be crack cocaine was released. She left just two weeks later to perform for the Grammys via a live satellite link-up.

Amy Winehouse Off the Hook

Amy Winehouse is no longer a wanted woman.

British police have decided against taking any further action against the singer in connection with their ongoing investigation into an alleged attempt to pervert the course of justice.

Winehouse, 24, was arrested "by appointment" in December and questioned by authorities with regard to the witness-tampering case that has resulted in her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, being jailed since November.

She had been scheduled to return for more questioning in early March, but the second interview has been deemed unnecessary, according to her publicist.

"Amy was released on police bail and was due to return to the police station, but will now no longer be required. Police have confirmed that she is no longer a suspect in the case after interviewing her in December," the Outside Organization said in a statement Friday.

"Amy is pleased to be discounted from the investigation and thanks the police for their professionalism in their dealings with her."

Having put that legal matter behind her, Winehouse was nowhere to be seen Friday at a court appearance at which Fielder-Civil pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

The singer has typically been a high-profile presence at her husband's hearings, given to dramatic declarations of her love for him. However, neither she nor Civil-Fielder's mother—another frequent court attendee—deigned to make an appearance in the courtroom for the latest hearing.

Civil-Fielder was remanded in custody to reappear in court in April. His trial is slated to begin in June.

Winehouse had also been scheduled to appear at a hearing in Norway Friday, stemming from her arrest on drug possession charges in October. However, that hearing was postponed to a later date by request of the singer's attorney.

Fresh off her five wins at this month's Grammys, Winehouse picked up a more dubious honor Thursday, collecting the Worst Dressed distinction at the 2008 NME Music Awards.

Too old? Says who!

This post is not aimed at a particular church or a particular pastor and is not in response to a recent event. It is a commentary on things that have occurred over the last ten plus years and in response to a general mindset in the church today..................................Jim Chitty

I’m 42 years old, and the “conventional wisdom” among most churches in America seems to be that I am too old to serve in the area of ministry that God called me too back in 1991. I’m talking about youth ministry. It’s amazing how so many churches and pastors purport to know better than God does about this. When God called me to youth ministry, His calling did not come with an expiration date or an age limit.

To say someone is “too old” or “too young” to fulfill their God given calling flies in the face of scripture and the very nature of God. God can and will use anyone regardless of age, weight, appearance, race, sex, you get the idea. For any church or church staff member to discriminate against someone based on these criteria when God Himself NEVER would is the same thing as elevating themselves above God and in effect saying that they know better than He does who should and who shouldn’t be called. That is a very dangerous thing to do.

The Bible clearly tells anyone who cares to pay attention that “God is no respecter of persons”, and that we are to “judge not, lest we be judged”. This should serve as a wake up call to churches to change their practices and their ways of doing things.

It seems that far too many churches are more concerned with appearance and perceived relevance than they are excellence, integrity, and scriptural accuracy. It appears that they would rather be led by the resume than by the Holy Spirit. One of the sad things is that they don’t see just how incredibly wrong and off base they are. They haven’t the slightest clue.

They pass over someone with experience, someone who may very have forgotten things about youth ministry that the young, good looking kid they hire hasn’t even learned yet. And this benefits the church and the youth group exactly how?? They will overlook the person who very well may be hand picked by God for a ministry role in the church in favor of someone who is not because the former is “too old” and/or doesn’t have “the look” that the latter does. How pathetically sad this is.

Hopefully this article will reach the heart of some churches and some pastors and cause them to change their ways. So many capable, qualified people are passed over and denied their destiny and their opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our youth because they are “too old” are for other ridiculous reasons. This has got to stop, and for the sakes of the churches and pastors doing these things, I hope it does. They are the ones who will have to stand before God and answer for what they have done, not the people they prevent from fulfilling their calling.

Texas weather.

In December, especially around Christmas, we can't even buy a snowfall. Now, here we are the first week in March and it has snowed over 3 inches in many parts of the area twice in the last 3days. Gotta love Texas weather....lol!!

TIPS ON PUMPING GAS (Good information)

I don't know what you are paying for gasoline.... but here in
California we are also paying higher, up to $3.50 per gallon. But my
line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some
tricks to get more of your money's worth for every gallon..

Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose , CA we
deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline.
One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and
premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of
16,800,000 gallons.

Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the
ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations
have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the
more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying
in the afternoon or in the evening....your gallon is not exactly a
gallon. In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the
temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other
petroleum products plays an important role.
A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the
service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a
fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3)
stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode you should be pumping on low speed,
thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping.
All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the
fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor.
Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage
tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF
FULL or HALF EMPTY. The reason for this is, the more gas you have in
your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates
faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal
floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and
the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations,
here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated
so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.

Another reminder, if there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage
tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up--most likely the gasoline
is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up
some of the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

Hope this will help you get the most value for your money.

Amy Winehouse's now snorting vodka

Amy Winehouse's latest party trick is snorting vodka.

Video of the day: No Daddy's Girl by Bluesbox

The troubled singer - who checked out of a London rehab clinic last month - shocked onlookers when she nasally inhaled the potent spirit through a straw while partying with friends including Kelly Osbourne, Mark Ronson and Kimberly Stewart at London's Bungalow 8 club on Wednesday (05.03.08).

A source said: "Somebody had brought over 20 shots to Amy's table and she decided to show off her new party trick. "She necked the top of the shot and lit the rest with a lighter. Then she grabbed a straw and sucked what was left up her nose.

"Amy threw back her head and reeled in shock and everyone around her looked stunned."

Doctors have warned Amy's party trick, known as a Gas Chamber, could be potentially lethal as alcohol is absorbed directly into the bloodstream.

Meanwhile, the 24-year-old 'Rehab' star flew into a rage yesterday
(06.03.08) when she spotted an unauthorised biography about her on sale at her local London garage.

Amy - who popped into the shop to pick up some sweets on her way home after partying till 5am - demanded the £17 tome, titled 'Amy, Amy, Amy: The Amy Winehouse Story', be taken off the shelves immediately.

The book, by Nick Johnstone, details Amy's rise to fame her battle with drink and drugs and the arrest of her husband Blake Fielder Civil, who is currently awaiting trial at London's Pentonville Prison.

Is Bush endorsement kiss of death for McCain?

I have to wonder, with President Bush being as unpopular as he is with many Americans right now, is his endorsement of John McCain the kiss of death not only for the McCain campaign, but also for any hope of a GOP win in November? George Bush, who like McCain is stellar in his views concerning the war on terrorism, is also like McCain in the fact that neither of them is a shining example of true Conservatism.

Basically, what we have is a sitting president who is at best a half Conservative endorsing a Liberal pretending to be a Republican and calling himself a Conservative. You can go home every night, park yourself in the garage, and call yourself a car, but it won't make you one. John McCain and the elite Republican establishment types can call McCain a Conservative all they want, but it doesn't make him one.

John McCain is nowhere near the standard bearer for Reagan-style Conservatism that he and others would have us believe he is. He's not even in the same time zone. His McCain/Feingold and McCain/Kennedy bills should be enough to convince anyone of this. Anyone who is paying attention that is.

McCain's candidacy is bad for the GOP and a potential McCain presidency is bad for America. Some would argue not as bad as a Clinton or Obama presidency. I'm not so sure about that. They're all bad, just in different ways. But, bad is bad no matter how you slice it.

Jim Chitty

History repeats itself

Every once in a while our country apparently has to be subjected to the disastrous effects of a Liberal Democrat president to wake us up and make us appreciate the benefits of Conservatism. It took 4 years of Carter to bring us Reagan.

After 8 embarrassing, shameful years of Slick Willy Clinton, America once again chose what they thought at the time was a solid Conservative. As it turns out, we were duped a bit as Bush turned out to not be as Conservative as we thought or as I would have liked him to be.

And now, yet again, the GOP is offering up a very weak pseudo-Conservative to go head-to-head against a very popular Liberal Democrat. America my yet again be forced to suffer through 4-8 years of destructive Liberalism and Socialism to make us turn back to the solid Conservative principles that have made this nation great in the past. I just hope we don't wait until it is too late and the damage done irreparable.

Amy and Kylie give up dresses for breast cancer

Dresses belonging to Amy Winehouse, Kylie Minogue and Paris Hilton were modelled for a charity auction yesterday (04.03.08).

Video of the day: Cassius by Foals

The fashion show was held at London’s Sketch venue for breast cancer charity The Lavender Trust and to mark the release of romantic comedy '27 Dresses'.

Other stars who donated outfits include Mariah Carey, Renee Zellweger, '27 Dresses' star Katherine Heigl, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Thandie Newton. All the garments - which feature designs by Dolce and Gabbana, Armani, Gucci and John Galliano - modelled in the show are now up for auction on website eBay.

Some of the gowns have particular sentimental value to the stars. Amy Winehouse wore her black rouched mini-dress for her video-link to this year's Grammy Awards, where she picked up five prizes, while Spice Girl Geri Halliwell donned her Gucci number to host Breast Cancer Care's annual Fashion Show in 2006.

Geri said: "We know that us girls can never have too many dresses so I'm delighted to support the auction in aid of the Lavender Trust by donation one of my own personal Gucci favourites. It has fond and poignant memories for me."

The dresses will be auctioned off at three-day intervals at www.ebay.co.uk/27dresses until the release of '27 Dresses' on March 27.

Looks like we're stuck with McCain

In a previous post I said in reference to the March 4 primaries that it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings and she hadn't even cleared her throat. I said this in hopes that it would inspire Conservatives to rise above the allure of John McCain and support the true Conservative, Mike Huckabee. Well, that didn't happen, and the fact that it didn't doesn't bode well for Conservative members of the Republican party. It also doesn't say much for the intelligence or the Conservative credentials of those who support McCain.

Indeed, the fat lady has now sung, and her song is not music to the ears of true Conservatives. It contains the sour notes of Liberalism trying to disguise itself as Conservatism, and the shrill screeches of compromise. When will we ever learn? Will we ever learn??

America hangs in the balance

I know, understand, and even to some degree share the frustration that many feel over the lack of stellar presidential candidates out there currently. I can even understand that lack leading some to not want to vote at all. However, voting is the best, really the only way that you and I, the average American citizen can affect change in the people and policies of government that we disagree with. To not vote at all is the exactly the same as saying you're perfectly okay with things as they are.

Not only that, but there is also the fact that many brave men and women have fought and died to protect and defend your right and freedom to vote. To not exercise that inalienable, God-given right cheapens their sacrifice. Don't make their efforts be in vain.

Equally as important as voting, is voting right. Voting for candidates and political parties that protect, defend, and boldly stand up for faith, family, and freedom. Voting for candidates who believe in respecting and defending the Constitution. Voting for candidates who believe in life, liberty, national sovereignty and security, lower taxes, and smaller, less intrusive government. Voting for anything less is bad for America.

As the March Primary and the November general election rapidly approach, America's future hangs in the balance. Please don't shirk your responsibility to vote. Now, more than ever, your vote and mine count in a big way. Our country is well-served by having active, informed voters. Educate and inform yourself on the candidates and the issues, then proudly and confidently cast your vote in the upcoming elections. America is counting on you!! Don't let her down!!!

Despite popular belief, Huckabee can still win

The Republican elite establishment crowd would have us all believe that the race for the party's nomination is over and McCain has already won. He's their guy and they are heavily invested in making sure he wins. For this reason they are going to great lengths to try and discourage us all from voting for Mike Huckabee. After all, why vote for a guy who can't possibly win? Why not back the clear front- runner? WAKE-UP CONSERVATIVES!! Don't be lulled into a false sense of inevitability. Don't let these bozos cram a Conservative wannabe like McCain down our throats. There is a clear Conservative choice out there, and that is Mike Huckabee.

The truth is, if enough of us pay attention and vote according to our core values and beliefs we can propel Huckabee forward. We might even create enough of a backlash that we keep McCain from getting the number of delegates needed to lock in the nomination, thus causing debate and discussion at the Republican National Convention and forcing a vote among those in attendance. That could change everything.

Let's take a cue from the Democrats. Recently the polls showed Obama leading Hillary in New Hampshire. Instead of just lying down and accepting defeat, Hillary's people mobilized and got out the vote and she won the state's primary. We have been told for years that Hillary is the heir-apparent to the Democrat nomination. We have been told that instead of a nomination, there would be a coronation. She was the candidate of inevitability. Now Obama is the clear front-runner in that race because Democrat voters didn't succumb to the perceived inevitability and instead voted according to their beliefs and their conscience and not according to the edicts dictated to them by party leaders. That very same strategy can and will work for us.

The reality is, it ain't over until the fat lady sings, and she hasn't even so much as cleared her throat yet. It's not too late to vote for and nominate the only Conservative left in the race. He's not as Conservative as I would like in some areas, but he's far and away better than the liberal thinly disguised as a Conservative that is John McCain. Stand up and be counted!! Vote FOR America! Vote FOR faith, family, and freedom! Vote FOR Mike Huckabee!!

When in America, speak American

Not much annoys me more than hearing people who claim to be Americans, speaking languages other than American, or in other words English. I don't care if you're here from China, Japan, Russia, Mexico, the Middle-East, I don't care, learn English and speak it when in public.

What you do in the privacy of your own home or car is your own business and I couldn't care less. But at work, school, at the store, while riding public transportation, or anywhere you might come into contact with the general public, it is your duty, your responsibility to speak English. To do anything else shows a high disregard and a great deal of disrespect for America and for Americans.

Kudos to Hillary

A little over a week ago, Dallas Police motorcycle office Victor Lozada died in a crash while escorting Senator Hillary Clinton's motorcade through Dallas. Clinton canceled her Ft. Worth campaign rally and visited Lozada's family at the hospital where he was taken after the crash. This past friday, February 29, a memorial service for Officer Lozada was held at Prestonwood Baptist Church, and Senator Clinton was one of those in attendance.

Now some who oppose the senator and presidential candidate may accuse her of attending the service merely for the photo op and positive publicity. As harsh a critic as I have been, am, and always will be of Senator Clinton and her politics, I have to give her credit and the benefit of the doubt on this one.

As much as I disdain, dislike, and disagree with virtually everything the senator and her party promote and stand for, in this one instance, I am willing to say "hats off" to Senator Clinton. Political posturing or not, political stunt or not, her presence at officer Lozada's memorial service was very classy and I'm sure it meant a lot to his family.

However, with all of that being said, I still hope that Senator Clinton gets beaten like a drum in the primaries this Tuesday.

The tax myth

It really shouldn't, but it never ceases to not only surprise me but also amaze me how many allegedly smart people actually whole-heartedly believe that raising taxes will somehow help spark our slumping economy. What amazes me even more is the seemingly ever increasing number of older people who believe this tax myth. I thought wisdom was supposed to increase with age?

You don't have to be a rocket scientist or even smarter than a fifth grader to figure this out. The more of our hard-earned money that government confiscates from us in the form of taxes, the less we have to put back into the economy by spending it on not just luxuries, but the bare necessities of life. Conversely, the more of our hard-earned money we are allowed to keep through decreased taxes, the more we have to spend on what we want and need. Its the increased spending that stimulates our economy.

Some say we should tax the rich more than anyone else. Penalizing and punishing people for their hard work or good fortune is about as un-American as you can get. Whatever happened to the land of opportunity? Now it seems that those who have made the most the opportunities deserve to be punished in the minds of some lame brains. Since when is it fair to take money away from people who have worked hard for it or from those who are the beneficiaries of the hard labor of a family member, and give it to someone who hasn't lifted a finger to earn it? Since when is it right or fair to take money away from those who have earned it and truly deserve it and give it to those who refuse to work, or to those who have knowingly, willfully, and flagrantly violated our laws to come here?

It is not right. It is not fair. It is not American, It never has been and it never will be. It must not be allowed to continue. The future of our country is at stake.
