HTC Chacha in Philippines Suffers from “Fn + @” Bug

A Philippine-based tech blogger has reported that a fresh batch of HTC Chacha (also known as HTC Status) has one bug that affects its keyboard. Apparently, if you try to hold the Fn button and press the “Y” key, you get the Pound sign (“£”) instead of the “@” character as implied on the keyboard. According to the Abe Olandres of Yugatech, he tried “a couple of HTC Chacha,” which is distributed exclusively by carrier Smart, for a hands-on review and all units had the same problem.
For a phone that brags itself as a “Facebook phone,” using the “@” sign is a huge deal. Facebook users type it to tag their friends in a status update or comment.
After several hours, the blogger posted an update saying the “@” sign can be typed by using the Fn+P combination, but that would leave out the tilde sign (“~”).
Does this bug only affect HTC Chacha units being sold in the Philippines? We will see when the reviews from other countries start pouring in.
