According to reports, a man punched through a window in an attempt to get out after seeing the smoke. This made the window's glass shatter, hitting other passengers.

Two passengers were injured after being hit by shards of broken glass. Both passengers are now being treated for minor injuries.

In an ABS-CBN interview, Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) public relations head Lyn Paragas said the train experienced “technical failure.”

Approaching UN Avenue, nagkaroon ng problema yung brake disc pad. Hindi pa naka-full stop yung tren, umusok. Nag-panic yung isang pasahero at binasag niya yung window. May mga pasahero na tinamaan ng bubog,” said Paragas.

LRTA authorities are already investigating the incident.
