I've Had It!!

As much as it pains me to say it, I am glad that George Bush is not eligible for re-election in 2008. If he was, he certainly would not get my vote like he has the two previous times. My decision has nothing to do with the war in Iraq or the over all war on terrorism. I know the libs and the Dumocrat presidential candidates don’t want people using the term “war on terrorism”. Too bad. I don’t take marching orders from them. Never have, never will.

My frustration with President Bush has to do with this so-called comprehensive immigration reform bill he so staunchly supports. In an amazing display of stupidity, he alienated well over 90% of his base when he said that those of us who oppose this bill “don’t want to do what’s right for America”. I would like him to answer me this then; since when is ignoring our laws, ignoring or national sovereignty, and putting our safety and economy at great risk good for America?

President Bush and John McCain and the others who support this bill can lie all they want and say it is not amnesty. I know "lie" is a strong word. But, what else do you call deliberate deception and misleading? Those of us though who actually have our brains functioning properly and are not engaged in legacy building or some other misguided political agenda know better. We know that this bill is amnesty for criminals; plain and simple.

To have the alleged leader of our country stand up and tell all of us patriotic, freedom loving Americans that we are bad people because we don’t support bad legislation is unforgivable.

Then came along Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff who said “of course there are some out there who think anything short of capital punishment is amnesty”. No Mr. Secretary, we don’t want illegals rounded up and executed, just rounded up and deported.

Anyone who is intellectually vacant and morally bankrupt enough to make that kind of statement about the very people whose tax dollars pay his salary, does not deserve the position he holds. He (Chertoff) told radio talk-show host Mark Davis this week “don’t bother me with worrying about who’s here legally and who’s not. I’m trying to fight a war on terror.” I guess he is oblivious to the fact that the guys who were planning on shooting up Fort Dix and more recently the guys who were planning to blow up JFK airport were here illegally. And, one other thing Mr. Chertoff needs to understand, he’s not fighting anything, our brave troops are the ones doing the fighting.

Securing our borders to prevent illegal immigration, and deporting those who are here illegally has everything to do with fighting terrorism and protecting our national security. If he is too dumb to see this or too blinded by a political agenda, then maybe we should find someone who has a proper grasp of reality to head up Homeland Security. Is Pat Buchanan doing anything right now??

And don’t even try to give me this garbage about not wanting to upset our neighbors south of the border because of NAFTA and trade. We should have never gotten involved with NAFTA to begin with. So what if we tick them off and prices of certain things go up. Sure we would complain for a while, just like we did with gas prices. But, also as we did with gas prices, we would adjust and go on with our lives. It’s called the price of doing the right thing.

Well over 90% of Americans want to put an end to illegal immigration, and, unlike our politicians in Washington, are smart enough to see that this bill doesn’t accomplish that. In fact, it only makes matters worse. I am in that 90%. I am also in the group who wants to see us elect leaders next time around, not followers. Leaders who will stand up and do what’s really right for America instead of letting Vincente Fox or Phillipe Calderon dictate American immigration policy.

It’s time for leadership in Washington for a change. It’s time to elect a true conservative, not a pretender like George Bush, a pretender candidate like Guiliani or McCain; and certainly not a Hitlery or Obama. That would be disaster. I’m talking about a true conservative like Duncan Hunter, or possibly Mike Huckabee, or Mit Romney; or, my personal favorite, Fred Thompson.

Putting our country in the hands of another pretend conservative, or worse a liberal Democrat, could have disastrous results. The primaries start soon. Let’s put forth the right person as our nominee. Yes, it’s important to nominate someone who is strong enough to beat Hitlery should she get her party’s nomination, but at what cost? Compromising our nation’s sovereignty and security in order to win an election is actually losing something far greater than just an election in the long run. Our country is at stake.
