AP puts a ban on Paris stories

The Associated Press put a moratorium on Paris Hilton stories last week, after a review of the past year's reports showed the heiress had appeared on the wire an average of twice a week. The AP's entertainment editor sent out a memo last week advising that no mention of Hilton would be made (barring any major incident). "There was a surprising amount of hand-wringing," said the editor after the announcement. "A lot of people in the newsroom were saying this was tampering with the news." One staffer backed the idea, saying, "This is a great idea - can we add North Korea?" By the end of the week, the AP editor said he was generally pleased with the experiment, despite Hilton's name appearing in a couple of stories. Anyone else think bloggers should all follow suit??

Another driving infraction for Paris

Paris Hilton is in trouble with the police again after being stopped for speeding and driving without her headlights late yesterday. The socialite was nabbed leaving the West Hollywood Virgin Megastore last night and cited for driving with a suspended license. Hilton's rep said his client was leaving a parking garage that "is brightly lit so she had not noticed that her headlights were not activated." Though police say the heiress was driving too fast, Hilton says she was not told she was speeding and was not aware of her license being suspended. "When she called me, she asked if her license was suspended," said her rep. "If that's the case, she and I are unaware of it."

Oil slick Davis ruins Paris's party

Things in picture from Paris Hilton's birthday party on Saturday night may look relaxed and intimate, but the socialite was left in tears after fellow spoiled-brat Brandon Davis's behavior prompted several guests to leave. "He was hurling flowers at Paula Abdul," a guest said of Davis. "Then he began bombing her with Styrofoam flower holders. He was shouting, 'Lick my [BLEEP], Paula!' He started mocking her ancestry by speaking gibberish in an Arabic accent... Stavros and Paris tried to stop him. Paris said, 'Shut up, you're wasted!'" After Abdul left in disgust, Davis focused his energies on Courtney Love. "He lifted her up so that she was straddling his waist," said a witness. "Her Chanel dress was riding up. Brandon was saying, 'I want to squirt on you.' He was humping Courtney in front of her daughter, Frances Bean. When he put her down, Courtney grabbed Frances and they marched out of the restaurant through the kitchen... He was knocking over glasses and candles on the table. Paris was crying to her mother, 'This is not my fault!'" Sounds like a really classy evening.

Paris fakes a three-way for her bday

Paris Hilton took two dates to her 26th birthday bash in Vegas this weekend. The socialite went to Nobu for dinner with her sister Nicky and Nicky's boyfriend David Katzenberg, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, and her own two escorts: on-again/off-again beau Stavros Niarchos and oil heir Brandon Davis. Witnesses say Hilton tagged back and forth between Niarchos and Davis, kissing one then the other while the rest of the table ate their sushi. The threesome reportedly shared a room at the Palms. (I should add that my own take on this story is that Paris's birthday party didn't get enough press so she cooked up this tale to make it more interesting.)

Anyone out there a "lucky" recipient of an invite to Paris Hilton's birthday bash this weekend? If so, you get to see yet another porn shot of the heiress. Hilton posed naked with only a microphone and strategically placed mic stand in the photo for the official invite to her 26th birthday party at Vegas's Hard Rock Hotel & Casino's Body English Club this Saturday. Can't this girl come up with some new ideas?

Nicky Hilton sued

Paris isn't the only Hilton with legal troubles...little sis Nicky Hilton is being sued by a Chicago development company for breach of contract over a hotel project. In a lawsuit filed yesterday, the company alleges Hilton has broken an April 2006 agreement to promote one of her Nicky Hilton Hotels, called Nicky O's Chicago. The suit also claims that Hilton contracted out interior design work she had agreed to do herself and proceeded to charge it back to the developer, and that the heiress misrepresented her own hotel design experience. Hilton's rep says neither he or his client had seen the lawsuit. "Things are not always as they appear," the PR pro said. "When the facts surrounding this matter are known to the public I think you will find out that the person who has been most impacted by this action will be Nicky Hilton... In the meantime, I don't think anybody should draw any conclusions based on the simple filing of a lawsuit."

Some on-set insiders have been dishing about celebrity behavior behind the scenes. A source on the set of Lindsay Lohan's I Know Who Killed Me accuses the actress of being "moody and is making everyone miserable around her. She'll be late and sometimes won't come out of her trailer," since Lohan checked into rehab. Lohan's rep responded to the claims, saying, "I am not witnessing [cranky, moody] behavior at all. When is this girl going to get a break without everyone judging her every move?" Aspiring "actress" Paris Hilton is also the subject of some on-set scoop, reportedly having trouble learning lines and arriving late to work on The Hottie and the Nottie. "Everyone is really fed up with her right now," said an insider.

Paris sues to have website shut down

Paris Hilton took legal action yesterday to shut down parisexposed.com. The website hosts a collection of the socialite's private photos, videos, letters, bank statements, medical records and even her passport. In a federal lawsuit, Hilton says she put the items in a 6,000-sq-ft storage unit two years ago when she and her sister were moving house, and claims the moving company should have been paying the storage fees. "I was appalled to learn that people are exploiting my and my sisters' private personal belongings for commercial gain," the heiress said in a statement, adding that she feared the items could be used "to steal my identity, or even worse, to harass or stalk me." Hilton's rep said the Simple Life star hopes the site will be shut down and "all of these items returned to her."

Paris's letter to "fans"

Paris Hilton posted a message on boyfriend Starvos Niarchos's MySpace page yesterday addressing her feelings about the new website that has popped up selling personal items found in a storage locker belonging to the heiress (see story here). The message starts out with a note from Niarchos that reads (sic):

"Yoooo - if u didn't kno P doesn't have her public account anymore. She was forced to delete it after the amount of publicity it got (wit the whole Britney blog) She wanted to put out a little message to the fans because I let her kno about the ammount of fanmail I hav been getting...and its ridic"

Hilton's message follows.

"Hey,
I'm sure you've heard it over the news on on some gossip blog - but, there has been a website that was made. On the website contains personal things, pictures/videos/writings, etc.

Yes, I am ashamed and overly embarrassed about my personal items being put publicly out there. The videos and pictures contain some explicit things, and things I've done in the past. PLEASE note that the pictures and videos were from years ago, when I was wild and just partied all the time.

I'm writing this because I want my fans to know that I am no longer that way that is shown on the website. It's unfortunate that things had to be let out this way, and I am extremely sad that some one would go out of their way just to make me feel low. It just go's to show that I have people out there to get me for something I haven't done...& it's too bad that people treat me in such an unkind and cruel way, when I have done nothing to anyone.

I know that my true fans will stick with me until this goes away. I want to thank those who have been nothing but possitive with this situation.

Paris, overexposed again

Want a piece of Paris? Parisexposed.com was launched on Tuesday and is selling an array of items previously owned by Paris Hilton - including photos, home videos, diaries, love letters, phone numbers of celebrity friends and recorded conversations. Hilton left the stuff in an LA-based storage facility, and when payments on the storage fell behind, the items were sold to an unidentified buyer. The webmaster of parisexposed.com says the stash was "acquired by me through a broker" in September. Interested web buyers are charged a monthly fee of $39.97 to enter the site, which claims to have photos and video footage of Hilton in a bubble bath as well as drinking and doing drugs with friends. The Simple Life star's rep told media, "We certainly are going to explore all of our legal options about this matter," in response to the launch of the site. Really, haven't we all seen all there is to see? Who needs to pay to see pictures of Paris's private parts?

Paris sentenced in DUI case

Paris Hilton was sentenced to 36 months probation, a $390 fine and an alcohol education program today in LA Superior Court on charges of DUI. The socialite was a no-show in court but entered a plea of no contest via her lawyers, who told the judge Hilton would rather fold than fight. The heiress was also given the option of completing probation in 24 months if she does 40 hours of community service.

The story behind Paris's droopy eye

Paris Hilton reportedly made a visit to the office of a plastic surgeon earlier this week for a consultation on fixing "her drooping left eyelid," a source told the New York Post. The insider claims Hilton secretly had a lid lift six years ago and that the muscles in her left eye were damaged as a result. Hilton may have made matters worse by donning blue-tinted contact lenses. "They have been drying out lately," said the source. "She is ignoring doctors' orders not to wear tinted contacts." Hilton's rep has denied the story.

Paris pimps herself out for a party

Paris Hilton will be the "date" of a wealthy Austrian industrialist at the Vienna Opera Ball - the highlight of the country's social season - and will receive a reported $1 million for attending the event. Richard Lugner and his wife have a custom of inviting celebrity guests to the ball, and in his past dates include Pamela Anderson, Sophia Loren, Geri Halliwell and Sarah Ferguson. Hilton is allowed to bring her parents and three other guests to the event, but her chaperones won't include Britney Spears - who was knocked off the list of invitees after the once-fast friends had a falling out. When asked about Spears's un-vite, Lugner's wife said, "They unfortunately do not get along anymore."

Britney and Paris: worst dressed duo

No surprise here...Britney Spears and Paris Hilton have tied for the top spot on Mr. Blackwell's annual Worst Dressed Women list. Blackwell nicknamed the duo the "Screamgirls" and referred to them as "two peas in an overexposed pod" and style-free and fashion deprived." Third on the list is Lindsay Lohan, who Blackwell says went from "adorable to deplorable." On the best dressed list this year are Kate Winslet, Angelina Jolie and Helen Mirren.

Paris pleads not guilty to DUI

Paris Hilton pleaded not guilty in her arraignment on DUI charges earlier today. Hilton herself was not required to appear in court and her lawyer appeared on her behalf. The socialite was arrested in September for driving erratically and told the police she was hungry and had had only one drink on an empty stomach. Her next court date is January 23. "At this point, I expect the LA city attorney will eventually offer her a plea bargain to a lesser charge in which she'll do no jail time, no community service, and just pay a fine," her lawyer said.
