It was reported by in May that popular strategy game Sid Meier’s Civilization would have a Facebook version called Civilization World, which was announced today that it is out on beta version.
Just like in the original version, Civilization World (or CivWorld as it is affectionately called) is a strategy game that allows players to built, expand, and develop their empires that last through different eras, from ancient to modern to near-future. What makes CivWorld different from past versions is the integration of social element into the game. It gives users the option to join teams and conquer the world as a group. After all, if you cannot rule as a dictator, perhaps being an oligarch will do.
And the best thing about CivWorld is that emperor wannabes can play it on Facebook free of charge, as opposed to the $40-something price of the Civilization V.
The big problem we have encountered while testing the app is how slow it responds. CrunchGear says theirs won’t load; we got in, but it is so slow to respond to commands to the point that we raised our arms in surrender and vowed to go through the tutorial for another day.
