Market Notes July 15

Silver continued its uptrend today, gaining 1.75% to $39.02 an ounce. Gold rose to $1,591 from yesterday's close of $1,587.

Stocks were mostly flat in light trading, amidst nasty economic reports. Google's 12.5% move lifted the Nasdaq slightly.

It feels like markets are waiting for clarity from the Federal Reserve on QE3. As regular readers know, we believe it's only a matter of time until another round of large-scale asset purchases (money printing) is launched.

Silver and gold prices would certainly suggest that is the case.

Enjoy the weekend.
