Here in Chicago we have not really enjoyed much of a summer yet. It is as if Mother Nature is taking a vacation and letting things get bizarre. This week should feel like summer for us. Now is the time then to plan for dinners, BBQ's, back-yard parties, etc. If you have a wedding, graduation party, or some sort of shower to go to, you're so in luck.
Nothing says "summer" more than a botanical print. I know this is not a ground breaking design for spring or summer, but what designers have done to make it current is intricate applique lace and very elaborate and fancy botanical prints. Instead of the look being laid back, the result is modern, memorable, and enchanting. I just love how fresh the modern take on the botanical print is. It is so refreshing to see an elegant woman in a print instead of a typical solid-colored dress or top.
If you are heading to something more formal, fancy frocks with garden scenes and traditional floral prints are everywhere. If you usually wear monochromatic or minimalistic looks, this will make your ensemble appear more intriguing and hard to ignore. Look for a mini-dress with a hand-painted botanical motif. You could even try a dress with a low neck-line or high slit.
Having a low neck-line will diffuse the sweetness of the floral printed frock. Pair the look with nude pumps and you have created something that is utterly sophisticated Now the high slit will make the ensemble more daring. A print that mimics a more ceramic feel will add dimension and intrigue to the dress. The muted color tones down the sexiness, but by added a pop of color with a bold pump will really make the outfit a head-turner.
