Nu Folk touches with traditional folk on the debut album from 'Son of Eagle'.
'From the Ground', is a creative journey working with organic sounds and haunting harmonies and tracks in this beautifully crafted folk album was featured in a live studio session for BBC Nottingham.
Scheduled for release on 29/03/11 by Expat Records, this 1st album is a exciting and different interpretation of the currently popular folk culture.

Right after a range of wonderful gigs through the UK and revelling in the good results of the initial EP 'Take Me Back', Son of Eagle immediately realized it was time to write their first album, 'From the Ground'. Just as in their EP, all recordings were via a single microphone; though not concurrently. Experimenting with assorted sounds and timbres produced by each and every instrument was a essential element in the creating of the project; Sarah found the microphone just inches away from her face, extremely close to her bow, encouraging the rich overtones of the strings to come through, while Ben learned his bathroom was the best suited acoustic to give his vocals the extremely important haunting sound vital in 'Sunlight'.
The album, from front to back, exhibits a true creative journey for the band. The cd title 'From the Ground' rightly represents the organic nature of cd - there are not any changes in note pitch, it has a contemporary quality about it with every song carefully thought through.
The band takes the album's listener on a voyage of discovery through hints of country, traditional and nu folk music with mesmerising, expressive and haunting songs.
Son of Eagle have previously performed the album on a studio session for BBC Nottingham and various local radio stations have found the first single 'HIM' as well as other tunes from the cd. The songs have been receiving quite favourable critical reviews from both radio stations and listeners.

Bio Created in 2009 by vocalist and guitarist Ben Edmonds, Son of Eagle was joined by Dean Collier on guitar, Sarah Lloyd on strings and Phil Thompson on Bass guitar. They are a UK music group which has a quest to take 'traditional folk meets nu folk with a tang of country flavour' to listeners. Immediately after critical acclaim by fans, radio stations and newspapers of their first EP 'Take Me Back', they also wrote, performed and produced their latest lp 'From The Ground'.
