After the taxi fare increase during the start of the year, another burden to regular PUV (public utility vehicles) commuters is about to take effect this month of February.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approved the P8 jeepney fare in Manila which is P1 more than the current rate of P7. The provincial P1 jeepney fare increase was also approved by the Board. The said fare hikes will take effect on Wednesday, February 2, 2011.
Via Inquirer, Manuel Iway, an LTFRB board member, released the following statements: “The provisional increase was granted because the board took judicial notice that the prices of goods have been going up, as well as the cost of maintaining jeepney operations, affecting the livelihood of operators.”, Iway said.
“While the interest of the public is still the main concern, we must also protect the rights of the jeepney operators, who are serving vital industries,” Iway added.
Pasang Masda and the Federation of Jeepney Operators and Drivers Association of the Philippines were the people behind the request of the newly approved jeepney fare hike.

Stage #4 -- Bulletproof
You can now pick fights with the people you have been betting money with because you cannot be hurt by anything. At this point you would go up to the boyfriend of the woman who had been admiring your beautiful self all evening and challenge him to a battle of wits for money. You have no worry about losing this battle of wits because you know all, have all the money to cover this bet, and you obviously win a fight that might erupt if he looses.
Stage #5 -- Invisible
This is the final stage of drunkenness. At this point you can do absolutely anything because no one can see you. You can get up and dance on a table; you can strip down to your underwear, to impress the people who have been admiring you all evening, because the rest of the people in the room cannot see you. An emotional John Rempel tells his story of how he has lost $150,000 of the family's money to a Nigerian scam.
A Leamington man has fallen prey to international scam artists who strung him along for more than a year with the promise of millions in cash, but ultimately bilked him and his family of $150,000. John Rempel said he quit his truck driving job, lost friends, borrowed money and crossed the globe in pursuit of a non-existent inheritance, after he was contacted by e-mail in what is known as a Nigerian 419 scam.
Rempel said he borrowed $55,000 from an uncle in Mexico and his parents gave him $60,000 on credit to cover fees for transferring $12.8 million into his name. “They’re in it now because of me,” said Rempel, 22, breaking into sobs. “If it wasn’t for me, nobody would be in this mess. You think things will work out, but it doesn’t. It’s a very bad feeling. I had lots of friends.
“I never get calls anymore from my friends. You know, a bad reputation.” His troubles began in July 2007. He said he got an e-mail from someone claiming to be a lawyer with a client named David Rempel who died in a 2005 bomb attack in London, England, and left behind $12.8 million.
“They used to come in the mail,” said Leamington police Const. Kevin O’Neil. “Now the majority of these are sent through e-mail. Keeping up with the times, using all the wonderful technology that’s available to them.” “I was told once that they send out 30,000 e-mails a day, around the world, and they hope for just one or two responses.
Once you return a phone call or return an e-mail, these people now have their hooks into you.” The lawyer said his client had no family but wanted to leave the money to a Rempel. It was his lucky day. “It sounded all good so I called him,” said Rempel. “He sounded very happy and said God bless you.” The man then told him he had to pay $2,500 to transfer the money into his name. Then there were several more documents. Some cost $5,000.
He was told to open an account at a bank in London. That required a $5,000 minimum deposit. The crooks later sent him an e-mail with a link to what he was told were details of his new account. Some money had been transferred there for “safe keeping.” “Everything was good,” said Rempel. Then he got an e-mail from a government department — he’s not sure which country — saying he owed $250,000 on tax on his inheritance.
Rempel spoke to his contact, who told him they negotiated the fee down to $25,000. Rempel went to Mexico where his uncle owns a farm. His uncle gave him $10,000 cash and money for a plane ticket. He was going to London to make sure it was legitimate. “I had $10,000 in cash in my pocket and my uncle sent another $25,000 when I was over there.
” In London, Rempel met some people and handed over the $10,000. They met Rempel the next day with a suitcase. They said it had $10.6 million in shrink-wrapped U.S. bills. Rempel wanted more proof. His new friends pulled out one bill and “cleansed” it with a liquid “formula,” which washed off some kind of stamp. Rempel was told that process made the money “legal tender.” “I was like holy crap, is that mine?” he said.
“They said ‘yes sir, it’s yours.’ It all sounded legit.” Rempel returned to his hotel room clutching the formula and waited for the others so they could cleanse all his money. They never showed, and later told him they got held up. In the meantime, Rempel dropped the formula. The bottle broke. He called his contact who said he’d get more. Rempel returned to Leamington and waited.
A few weeks later Rempel got a call. They found more formula. It would cost $120,000. “I thought, ‘let’s work on it, nothing is impossible,’” said Rempel. His contacts were willing to meet associates in different countries to get cash for the formula. It would require several plane tickets, worth $6,000 each. Rempel was told they collected $100,000, but still needed $20,000.
There was a guy in Nigeria who had it, but another plane ticket was required. The contact later told him he could only get $15,000 and “begged” Rempel for the last $5,000. Rempel borrowed money. He stopped making Visa and car payments. They called a week later and said the money was ready to go. They just needed $6,900 for travel costs and to rent trunks to ship the money.
Later, the men called to say they were at the airport in New York. Security stopped them and they needed $12,500 for a bribe. Finally, Rempel had enough. “I said, ‘no way I’m cleaned out.’” Rempel, his parents and 10-year-old brother Ike drove to New York. They spent a day searching the airport for the men, with no luck. They returned home and called police.
“I really thought in my heart this was true,” said Rempel.
While video hopping on Youtube, I found a controversial video containing Daniel Matsunaga in its title. It shows the Brazilian-Japanese model kissing a girl inside an elevator! I am not sure if it is really Daniel Matsunaga although the guy really shares similar features of the Kapuso hunk. The video looks like a CCTV recording and it is dated January 8, 2011.
So I searched for info about the "Daniel Matsunaga Elevator Scandal" and found out that the incident happened on a go-see last January 8, 2011. They say that Daniel was flirting one of the female models during that go-see. Some people who noticed it got suspicious and found a way to get a copy of the CCTV recording to know what happened inside the elevator.
If it is really Daniel Matsunaga, I wonder how he would explain the video to her girlfriend actress Heart Evangelista.

One of the biggest journalistic jokes of the modern era, Keith Overblown, and the company that aired his show Countdown to all 15 or so of their viewers, MSNBC, have officially parted ways.
Even though I was never a fan of Overblown or his excuse for a show on an excuse of a network, I am saddened to see him go for the following reason. I love it when obnoxious, over-the-top liberals like Overblown consistently spew all the hate and sludge that they spew and of course accuse us Conservatives of spewing. It shows their true colors, and gives the world even more of a reason to reject Liberalism and embrace Conservatism.
Since the Overblown era is over at MSNBC, we can hope now that he will fade of into the sunset and into the life of relative obscurity that he so richly deserves. Unless of course some genius decides to offer him the job of White House Depress Secretary. America has had enough of his secretions when he was on MSNBC. The last thing we need is for him to be secreting from DC. Besides, I think that job has probably already been promised to Jared Loughner. Of course he is currently unavailable, so why not offer it to another crazy quilt like Keith Overblown?

Our soon to be ex-president got on TV recently and called for all Americans to “tone down the rhetoric” when debating political matters. This was of course shortly after the tragic shooting in TucsonArizona that killed six and injured fourteen. To hear Democrats and the Obamunist media tell it, Conservatism created the thoughts, Sarah Palin aimed the weapon, and Rush Limbaugh pulled the trigger. The deranged shooter Jared Loughner was just along for the ride and just another victim of the evils of Conservatism and talk radio.
Oh yeah, that sounds like civil discourse to me. So does Obama wondering “whose ass to kick” in regards to the BP oil spill. It was the height of civility when he said “if they bring a knife, we bring a gun”, or telling his supporters during the campaign to “get in their faces”. Democrat House members said that Republican efforts to repeal Obamacare were no different than Nazi propaganda.
It was the Liberal politicians and media types who bent over backwards to deride and make fun of Jenna and Barbara Bush when their dad was in the White House. And in typical Liberal fashion, a lot of what they said was totally untrue. But you let someone even mention in passing that one of the Obama daughters even has so much as a hair our of place and the plans for that person’s lynching are set in motion.
George W. Bush mispronounced a few words and was considered the village idiot for it. Yet, our soon to be ex-president Hussein Obama claimed he visited “57 states” during his campaign and only had “6 more to go”. He doesn’t even know how many states the country he is allegedly president of has. He called for kids with asthma to be put on “beathalyzers”, then “inhalators”. At a Memorial Day speech he said we should honor those who have fallen protecting out land “many of whom are in crowd today”. All of this and yet he is somehow still regarded as the Messiah and the Anointed One and our most brilliant leader. Misleader would be more accurate.
You let one of us try to correct one of his afore mentioned errors and we are evil, hateful, mean-spirited, racist bigots. Let “W” mispronounce “nuclear” and he is declared a moron and unfit to serve as president. Just some dumb hick redneck from Texas who lucked into the presidency. Never mind that fact that he is a Yale graduate. No, he’s as dumb as a box of rocks. Really?? I bet he knows how many states there are.
Don’t be fooled, to this cast of bumbling buffoons, a “more civil discourse” and “toning down the rhetoric” means that those of us who oppose their policies are to be silenced. Disagreeing with them equals hate in their twisted and vacant minds. It means they can say whatever they want, but we Conservatives must remain silent and keep our hateful, violent talk of lower taxes, smaller government, and national sovereignty and security to ourselves lest we create another Jared Loughner. Or even worse, God forbid, another Rush Limbaugh.
I say let’s ratchet up the tone of the rhetoric a bit. Let’s be even more vigilant in our opposition to their destructive policies and ideas. Let’s stick to our guns. Let’s set our sites on their policies and blow them out of the water. Let’s stay cocked, locked, and loaded, ready to defeat them at every turn. And when it comes time to engage them in a debate or discussion of policy differences, then let’s take careful aim and fire when ready, not holding anything back.
They have to try to silence their opponents because they know there is no way in heck they could ever win a debate with us. Our policies would prevail every time and we would beat them like a red headed step child.
So come an America, join me in ratcheting up the discourse. Join me in putting their Marxist, Socialist, anti-American policies squarely in the crosshairs of debate and shooting their arguments full of holes. They are such easy targets and they give us all the ammo we need every time they shoot off their mouths.

I wonder if there are anymore Filipinos on American Idol Season 10. It would be much more exciting for us, right? :D
