Maggie Gyllenhaal and Peter Sarsgaard have ended a dispute with their landlord. The new parents were facing eviction from their Manhattan apartment after two of the three landlords of the building decided the actress didn't have a valid lease. The two owners filed suit against the star on the grounds that because the lease had been signed by only the third owner of the apartment, it was not legal. Gyllenhaal's affidavit that her lease had been legally executed by one of the building's owners was agreed with by a Manhattan civil court judge, and as a result the family has the option to remain in the apartment until 2007. "Maggie should never have been dragged into this," her lawyer told the New York Post. "The owners of the building should have fought it out themselves and left her out of it." Gyllenhaal and Sarsgaard have reportedly purchased a house in Brooklyn and have plans to move in the near future.
