A truly sad day in NASCAR

As the sun was setting on another year, it was also setting on the one of the longest running sports dynasties. Yesterday, New Year's Eve 2008, Petty Racing Enterprises completed it's final lap. The organization founded by Lee Petty in 1949 was absorbed by Gillette-Everenham Motorsports. Lack of sponsorship and the resources necessary to compete effectively in the sport in which its name had become synonymous led to the sale to GEM. In 2009, for the first time in 6 decades, the name Petty will not be active in any NASCAR competition. It is truly a sad time for NASCAR.

Lee's son Richard rose to the top eventually becoming known as "The King" of NASCAR. Richard Petty won 7 Cup Championships, a feat that has only been matched once, by Dale Earnhardt who won his 7th championship in 1994. Richard Petty won an incredible 27 of 48 races in 1967 including 10 in a row. Another record that will most likely remain untouched. In a five year span that ended in 1971 Petty and his famous #43 car visited victory lane an unprecedented 81 times. In its storied history, Petty Enterprises racked up a total of 268 wins, 890 top 5's, 1269 top 10's, led 61,574 laps, and won 9 Daytona 500's.

Most of the 268 victories can be credited to Lee and Richard Petty, but there were other drivers who contributed who were not family members. In 1970 a relatively unknown New England driver named Pete Hamilton won the Daytona 500 driving Petty's #40 car. Hamilton won three of the 18 races that someone other than a Petty won for the team. Richard Petty retired in 1992. The last victory for Petty Enterprises came in 1999 and John Andretti was the driver.

Kyle Petty, Richard's son became the third generation of Pettys debuting at Talladega in 1979. Kyle's son Adam made it four generations when he made his debut at Texas in 2000. He finished 40th in that race. Tragedy hit the family and the race team hard though that same year. Three day's after Adam's first race, his great-grandfather Lee Petty died of complications following surgery. One month after that, Adam was killed in a crash during practice for a Busch Series race at New Hampshire. The Pettys both as a family and as a race team never really recovered after that.

Now, just 8 years later, the end has come to the organization whose name has become synonomous with NASCAR. In 2008 Petty Enterprises sold the majority of the race team's interest to the private equity firm Boston Ventures. Also in 2008, General Mills, long-time sponsor of Petty's flagship #43 car announced they were taking their sponsorship to Richard Childress Racing in 2009 leaving the Petty Dodge unsponsored. At the end of the season Petty Enterprises began laying off people and Kyle Petty announced that he was no longer with the organization that proudly bore his family name for 60 years. Not long after that, former champion Bobby Labonte, driver of the #43 for 3 seasons, was released from his contract and talks began to incorporate the famous #43 in to Gillette Everenham Motorsports.

As a NASCAR fan since childhood and a fan of the Pettys for just as long, I am saddened by this turn of events. NASCAR has become more of a business now than a competitive sport. The true sportsmen and competitors who are under capitalized are being squeezed out by big money business types who care more about dollar signs than checkered flags. I will continue to watch the sport I love and follow my favorite driver (Bobby Labonte). Only, I will do so with a knowing that the sport will never be the same without the Pettys' name and influence. NASCAR isn't really NASCAR without the Pettys.

Sports Shorts

Well, well, well, the sports world is nothing if not wacky. Last year's NFL laughing stock Miami Dolphins is this years division champ and headed for the playoffs. The New York Jets are coachless now after hiring what many consider the greatest QB ever to play the game (Brett Favre) only to have an end of season meltdown and see the great QB throw 9 interceptions in the last 2 games. There are QB's in the league who have not thrown 9 interceptions ALL SEASON. Can you really blame the coach for that though?? He's a good coach. He'll land on his feet.

The New England Patriots missed the playoffs this year. Tom who?? Then there is the Dallas Cowboys who managed yet again to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and mediocrity from the jaws of greatness by losing to the Iggles 44-6. That's not a team there in Dallas, but rather a collection of individual egos. The biggest of them all being owner Jerry Jones.Jones does have some competition in the ego department though from the likes of Terrell "its all about me" Owens and Adam "the Felon formerly known as Pac-Man" Jones. How do fans go about getting an owner fired?? Anyone can figure that one out is a genius. The sad thing is it will probably cost coach Wade Phillips his job when all is said and done.

And let's not forget those record setting Detroilet Lions who finished the season with a stellar 0-16 record. Their coach was also canned. He probably wasn't even allowed to fly back on the team plane. 0-16?? How does this happen in today's NFL? Surely they could have beaten at least one team. The end of season Jets or Cowboys perhaps? Maybe last year's Dolphins. I doubt it. If you look up ineptitude in the dictionary, there is the team picture of the 2008 Detroit Lions.

So that leaves me looking forward to February when NASCAR season comes roaring back. I just love NASCAR. In the meantime, I have new favorite NFL team to cheer on through the playoffs since the
Cowboys went South on me, again. That team is the Fish! Go Dolphins!! All the way to the Superbowl!

Update, 12/31/08:
Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan has been fired after the Broncos went 8-8. He's been a coach for 14 years. I like this guy and the team. I hated to see this one happen.

THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!

I don’t normally watch Dr. Phil nor do I normally care what he has to say. Not because of anything against him personally or professionally, I am just simply not into that type of TV show. With that being said though, he had a show on a few days ago that I was compelled to watch. He was talking to some injured Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans who are having a very difficult time getting the treatment they need and feel they have fallen through the cracks of our system.

They told of having to wade through mounds of bureaucracy and paperwork just to get simple care, let alone major treatment. They told stories of veterans who have died waiting for treatment, some who went to VA hospitals seeking treatment for suicidal thoughts and were told it would be 5-6 weeks before they can be seen. Some of them actually committed suicide while waiting to be seen.

Of course these incidents should NEVER happen. These brave men and women have sacrificed a lot, some leaving an arm, a leg, and various other body parts on the battlefield to defend and protect our freedoms. They should be given the highest quality care for as long as they need it after they return. Many pay the ultimate sacrifice and never return. Their families should be cared for as well. That is not even open for debate or discussion in my opinion.

What is open for debate and discussion is whether these incidents are rare and anecdotal, or if they are widespread and systemic. Dr. Phil and some his special guests seemed to think it is widespread and systemic. Of course if you look long and hard enough you can find people to support any agenda you are looking to prop up. One of his so-called experts, a guy named David Hunt who is a military analyst for Fox News, said we need to stop spending money in Iraq and use it to care for those injured.

That is an idiotic, even moronic statement at best. You don’t pull funding from troops in harm’s way and instead use it to treat casualties. Unless of course you want the casualty count to rise astronomically. Still another guest whose name escapes me who was a member of the House of Representatives in charge of the oversight of the VA said the VA was give a budget of $100 billion this year. Obviously the money is being spent on something other than what it was intended for.

Throwing more money at a broken system may not be the best answer either, but if we are to consider giving the VA a larger operating budget we must make sure there are very stringent controls on how the money is used. Where would get this increase from? Well, I certainly am not in favor of defunding an ongoing war to pay for the fiscal mismanagement of VA administrators. Only the unpatriotic among us would support doing something like that. Kind of makes me wonder a little about Dr. Phil and his guests.

We as a nation spend just South of $400 billion a year giving free (i.e. taxpayer funded) healthcare, welfare, unemployment, education, and numerous other benefits to criminal immigrant invaders who have dome nothing to deserve one dime of it. All they have done is broken our laws to come here and then demand that we take care of them after they get here.

They are part of the problem, not part of the solution. I am sick and tired of Jose being able to drive around in nice cars, live in big houses, and take his 9 kids to any hospital or clinic he chooses and get them cared for on you and me while our veterans and their families are dying waiting on treatment and eating dog food in some cases. We have our national priorities so screwed up its pathetic. We have political correctness and liberalism to thank for this.

So, here’s a novel idea, let’s stop funding freebies for those who don’t deserve it and instead spend that money on getting our wounded vets and the families of those who gave all the care they deserve and are entitled to. American military veterans and their families being disrespected in this way is an outrage and should make us all ashamed to call ourselves patriotic Americans for allowing this to happen and not holding our government officials’ feet to the fire on this issue. They work for us remember, not the other way around as many of them would have us believe.

Our brave military heroes serve with dignity and honor only to come home to this kind of injustice. They deserve better. Yet we have so many left leaning politicians and even citizens who are so blinded by their hatred for President Bush and for the war that they actually turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to the plight of our veterans and to the solution to their plight. That is so pathetically sad that it almost makes me wonder who I should feel the most sorry for. I said almost. Obviously the veterans would win that contest. As far as the ones who are willfully blind and deaf to the truth staring them in the face, well, you can’t fix stupid.

The "Holiday" Has a Name

Everywhere I go this time of year, I hear “happy holidays”, or “season’s greetings” or “what are you doing over the holiday?” Has everyone forgotten that the holiday has a name?? It does, and the name is Christmas. Political correctness dictates that we not use the name Christmas because the obvious reference to “Christ” offends some folks and causes them to get there wittle feewings hurt. TOUGH!!

It is a historical fact that December 25 is the day we set aside here in America, a Christian nation lest we forget, to honor and recognize the birth of Christ. Thus the name Christmas. If you take away all reference to Christ and make it generic, then December 25 loses all of its significance and becomes just another day among the other 364.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I have had it. I have had it with the Godless, faithless people in our society who seek to make us change our ways and subjugate our faith to protect them from being offended. The United States Constitution grants no one the right to not be offended. It does grant to every one the right of freedom of religion and freedom of expression. If they want to say ”happy holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas”, then fine. They get to do that. But they don’t get to tell me, or you, that we have to stop saying “Merry Christmas”. It seems however that freedom of religion and freedom of speech only applies to religions other than Christianity these days.

I don’t care what society says, or government dictates, the “holiday” is Christmas and that is exactly what I will call it, like it or not. You will never hear the words “happy holidays” or “season’s greetings” come out of my mouth. I will wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and if the reference to Christ offends them, then that is their problem, not mine. I won’t let the fact that they are easily offended, and are looking for ways to be offended, cause me to change my beliefs or my expression of those beliefs.

You won’t catch me sending generic, non-religious Christmas cards out to those on my list either. Christmas is not just another holiday. It is the day we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ! Whether those on the left, or those of other faiths or no faith at all like it or not, it is a Christian holiday. And, whether they like it or not, find it offensive or not, I will until the day I die, observe it as such.

I flatly, and steadfastly reject the Godless political correctness that so permeates our once great nation, and I strongly encourage any and everyone reading this to do likewise. Any takers??

A Politically Correct Christmas, I mean Xmas.

Political correctness is now apparently a given in our society, so I thought it would be fun to play a little game called illustrating absurdity by being absurd. The following things have not happened, yet, but given our society’s love of and fascination with political correctness, it’s not too far fetched to imagine. Enjoy this little bit of humor, but keep in the back of your minds, it could all happen sooner than we think. Objects in mirror are actually closer than they appear.

Santa is no longer acceptable. He offends the feminists because he is a male. He offends obesity groups because he is fat, and he offends senior citizen groups because he is old. He offends African-American groups because he is white. So, if we come up, with a young, thin, gender neutral, bi-racial figure, that would most-likely be acceptable. Is it just a coincidence that if you take the letters in Santa and move them around slightly, you get Satan??

Animal rights activists are up in arms over Rudolph. I mean, we should never exploit a helpless reindeer by making him a symbol of commercialism. Especially when he has a condition that causes his nose to stay red constantly.

The pro-abortion crowd is offended by the Baby Jesus, because He was actually born.

Environmental wackos are miffed about Christmas trees. We should never cut down trees for any reason. They don’t like Christmas lights either because of all the extra electricity it takes to run them. And you better never let one of them catch you roasting chestnuts on an open fire. All that smoke pollutes the atmosphere. Oh, and don’t forget those gas guzzling, evil SUV’s that some of us drive to visit our families over the holiday season. That really hacks them off.

Frosty the snowman also offends the feminists. Why couldn’t it be Frosty the snow person? Or Frosty the snow woman?

Elves are offensive to those in our society who are, shall we say, vertically challenged.

The phrase “don we now our gay apparel” in a famous Christmas carol offends the gay rights crowd because they say it pokes fun at them.

Now, this little exercise was fun, but in all seriousness, these things could very easily happen unless we get a handle on the scourge of political correctness. Even the name Christmas is offensive to some because of the obvious reference to Christ. Some even try to totally eliminate all mention of Christ from the holiday, so they replace it with an “X”. I used to get very angry about the use of “X” in place of Christ. But, I had a change of heart a few years ago when I realized that the letter “X” in the Greek alphabet is the letter that represents Christ. So, I changed my attitude and decided that whenever I see “Xmas” I still see Christ since “X” represents Christ. I choose to see Christ in Christmas no matter what the Godless and the liberal left try to do.

I think it’s time that we take back our holiday, and even our nation. They have been corrupted by the Godless and the politically correct in our society and government. We can stand against the diseases of liberalism and political correctness. There is a cure for them, but it will take the efforts of all Christians to overcome them. I’m willing to do my part and take a stand. Are you??

The "C" Word - A compelling story

Three fifth graders, two boys and one girl, were sent to the principal's office for punishment. While waiting for the principal, the kids were made to sit on a bench just outside the office door. As they sat and waited, a group of kids, and a couple of teachers, walked by.

One of the teachers asked the first boy what he had done to get sent to the office. He replied "I said the 's' word." The group just shook their heads. Then the teacher asked the other boy the same question. He said "I said the 'f' word." Again, the group just shook their heads.

Finally someone asked the girl what she had done. She said "I used the 'c' word." "The 'c' word??" asked the teacher. "Yes", said the girl, "I said Christmas". The eyes of all of those in the group widened with disgust and they gasped in horror that the girl would actually dare utter such an offensive word at school. "You should be ashamed of yourself!" exclaimed one of the other kids.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, this is not a true story, however it easily could be given society's fascination with political correctness. And, I can see this happening in the not too distant future unless we wise up as a nation and realize that the right to not be offended does not exist in the Constitution. Unless we wake up and realize that the laws and rights that are enumerated in the Constitution apply to everyone, including Christians.
Let's work and do whatever it takes to keep Christmas a part of our societal lexicon. Let's not allow the political correctness crowd to continue to make it an offensive word and try to have it eliminated. Let's protect and stand up for our rights as Christians to call this special holiday by it's right and proper name.
So with that MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! And, no I don't care if it offends you or not.
A Comparison of Santa, and Jesus
What have we always heard about Santa Claus? That he knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you’re awake. He knows when you’ve been bad or good, so be good for goodness sake. Guess that would make him omniscient wouldn’t it?
He would have to be able to everywhere virtually at once in order to get all those gifts delivered. Guess that would make him omnipresent?
He somehow came up with eight flying reindeer, one of which has a glow in the dark nose. He makes no money and yet still somehow manages to provide toys to the world’s kids. Does that make him omnipotent? Did he perform some kind of miracle? Is it all just a lie?
You see my friends, we have come dangerously close in our society to making Santa supernatural just like Jesus. For far too many of us, Christmas is more about a fat guy in a red suit than it is a baby in a manger.
Let me set the record straight. That baby in the manger grew up to be the Savior of the world. He is the only person who has ever lived that is omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. How and why did we let a fictitious character that drives a sleigh and plays with elves rise to such a level that we all but worship him at Christmas?
Santa Claus hasn’t given me anything. Jesus on the other hand, gave me His life in exchange for my sin so that I might spend eternity with Him in Heaven. Jesus gave the same gift to everyone. Have you accepted the gift Jesus gave all of us? He truly is the gift that keeps on giving!
Sorry fat boy, I’m stickin’ with Jesus!
Big challenge for such a little person
Pulmonary Valve Stenosis. A very scary sounding diagnosis. Any diagnosis that involves the heart can be scary to anyone who receives it, be they young or old. Imagine how much more frightening that diagnosis would be to the parents of a just days old baby girl. That is the diagnosis my wife and I were given concerning our daughter Hannah Grace just days after her August second birth.
Pulmonary Valve Stenosis is a congenital heart defect that according to doctors effects one out of every one hundred fifty children born in the US. Hannah spent the first 12 days of her life in two different hospitals while doctors were trying to determine the best course of action. Doctors say that PVS is not a hereditary condition, nor is it something that is caused by problems or improper care during pregnancy. It is some that just happens.
PVS occurs when the Pulmonary Valve does not function properly thus restricting blood from the heart to the lungs. In Hannah’s case it was the valve leaflets that were the problem. Think of the leaflets as resembling flower petals. They are supposed to paper thin and open and close freely to allow proper blood flow from the heart to the lungs. Hannah’s leaflets were too thick and partially fused together and thus did not open and close properly. These factors caused the right ventricle to pump harder trying to get the blood to flow past the bad valve. As a result of the strain of the extra pumping effort, excess muscle formed in the right ventricle below the valve, further hindering blood flow.
Pediatric Cardiologist Dr. Henry Kort of Medical City Children’s Hospital in Dallas performed a balloon procedure that seemed to help, for a very short time. After a series a weekly follow-up visits to Dr. Kort, he decided that the results of the balloon procedure were not lasting to his satisfaction and we needed to explore other options. Dr. Kort consulted Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon Dr. Eric Mendeloff and it was decided it was time to do open heart surgery. The thought of having someone operate on your one-month old, open-heart surgery no less, is a scary prospect. However, the wake-up call was delivered and it became a no-brainer when Dr. Mendeloff informed us that if we opted not to do the surgery, Hannah probably would not live past the age of five. So, after the consultation, Dr. Mendeloff performed open-heart surgery on our little fighter at one-month six days old.
Hannah is now just over 4 months-old and by all indications is now a normal, healthy, happy baby girl who is growing into quite a little princess. We are looking forward to our first Christmas with our little miracle. The doctors tell us there is no reason Hannah can’t be a normal child from this point forward. She should be able to play sports if she wishes, be a cheerleader, whatever. They say the worst thing we can do as parents is to treat her as “cardiac cripple”. We are doing our best to take their advice.
We are looking forward to watching out little miracle grow into the remarkable young lady we know she will one day be. We give God all the credit and the glory for her amazing recovery. She had people from coast to coast praying for her. It was quite moving to know so many people care. We are excited about what the future holds not only for Hannah but for our family as well. I will keep the blog updated with stories and pictures from time to time.
Economic problems hit NASCAR.
The economic problems facing America is now even starting to effect the sports world. One of NASCAR's oldest and most respected teams, Petty Enterprises, founded by the late Lee Petty and made a household name by Richard Petty, is feeling the pinch. This past Thursday Petty Enterprises announced cutbacks including the possible sale of the #43 car and team to Gillette-Everenham Racing. The #43 car made famous by "The King" Richard had been driven by former NASCAR Champion Bobby Labonte up until this pat Thursday. Labonte had piloted the #43 Cheerios Dodge since 2006, and had just last year signed a 4 year contract extension with the team. Labonte said the decision to relase him was "in the best interests of both himself and the team" and that although difficult for both, it was a mutually agrred upon decision and there are no hard feelings on either part.
General Mills had announced earlier in the season that they were pulling sponsorship of the #43 car and instead were going to sponsor a car for Richard Childress Racing in 2009. This left the car and the team without sponsorship of any kind for 2009. Talks are underway with GEM about adding the #43 to the team which is already made up of three cars, the #9 driven by Kasey Kahne, the #10 driven by Scott Riggs, and the #19 driven by Elliot Sadler. No word yet as to who might be the driver for the #43 under the new deal if infact it does take place.
As for Labonte, it is rumored that he is in talks with newly aligned Earnhardt/Gnassi team about driving for them. Nothing is confirmed or finalized yet and Labonte siad he is keeping the matter private until something is finalized. The 44 year-old Labonte has no retirement plans anytime soon and hope to drive for several more years, win a few more races, and maybe even snag another championship or two. I will be following this closely and will keep you up to date.
Now you know
The Goldberg Brothers
The four Goldberg brothers, Lowell, Norman, Hiram, and Max, invented and developed the first automobile air-conditioner. On July 17, 19 46, the temperature in Detroit was 97 degrees.
The four brothers walked into old man Henry Ford's office and sweet-talked his secretary into telling him that four gentlemen were there with the most exciting innovation in the auto industry since the electric starter.
Henry was curious and invited them into his office. They refused and instead asked that he come out to the parking lot to their car.
They persuaded him to get into the car, which was about 130 degrees, turned on the air conditioner, and cooled the car off immediately.
The old man got very excited and invited them back to the office, where he offered them $3 million for the patent.
The brothers refused, saying they would settle for $2 million, but they wanted the recognition by having a label, 'The Goldberg Air-Conditioner,' on the dashboard of
each car in which it was installed.
Now old man Ford was more than just a little anti-Semitic, and there was no way he was going to put the Goldberg's name on two million Fords.
They haggled back and forth for about two hours, and finally agreed on $4 million and that just their first names would be shown.
And so to this day, all Ford air conditioners show Lo, Norm, Hi, and Max on the controls.
So, now you know...
P.S. Don't lose your sense of humor during these challenging times!
The month before Christmas
‘Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.
See the police had taken away
The reason for Christmas – no one could say.
The children by their schools not to sing
About shepherds and wisemen and angels and things.
It might hurt people’s feelings the teachers would say,
After all, December 25 is just a “Holiday”.
Yet the shoppers were ready with, cash, checks, and credit.
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it.
CD’s from Madonna, an X-Box, and i-pod.
Something was changing, something quite odd.
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanza
In hopes to sell books by Franken and Fonda.
As Target’s were hanging there trees upside down,
At Lowe’s the word Christmas – nowhere to be found.
At Kmart and Staples, and Penny’s and Sears
You won’t hear the word Christmas, it won’t touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, and diversity
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzer,
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton.
At the top of the Senate there arose such a clatter,
To eliminate Jesus in all public matters.
And we spoke not a word as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The Reason for the Season, stopped before it started.
So, as you celebrate “Winter Break” under your “dream tree”
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully, choose what you say.
Shout MERRY CHRISTmas
Not “Happy Holiday”!!!!!
Author unknown
I don't know about you, but I found this very chilling and very well written. We as Christians and as patriotic Americans MUST NOT allow the godless liberal left take away the meaning of the holiday we celebrate on December 25.
If you don't believe in God and don't celebrate Christmas, that's fine and that's your right in a free country like ours. You have the right to believe, or not believe whatever you choose. What you DO NOT have the right to do is try to take away the same rights from me just because I believe differently than you.
I can't speak for those of you reading this, but I can tell you, you will NEVER hear the words "happy holiday" or "season's greetings" come out of my mouth. I celebrate CHRISTmas, and that is exactly what I will call it and I don't care if it offends you or not.
As I said, you have the right to believe or not believe and celebrate or not celebrate whatever you wish. But, you also have to realize that this is my country too, and I enjoy the same freedoms as you and if I want to call the "holiday" CHRISTmas, that is exactly what I will do!! If you don't like it or want to hear it, TOUGH!! There are plenty of less free countries you can go live in and plenty of airlines with flights leaving every hour to those countries. I invite you to get on one ASAP. And, given the current state of the economy, if having the money for the ticket is a problem, I'll be happy to help.
So, with that Merry CHRISTmas and Happy New Year!!!
Obama's Unfairness Doctrine
President-elect Obama's sycophants and supporters are calling for their beloved Messiah to implement a piece of legislation known as the Fairness Doctrine once he is in office. Doing so would effectively silence Conservative talk-radio giving the liberal media more a of an impact on public discourse. I have said for years now that America offers total religious freedom to everyone but Christians. Could it be that we have now finally taken the misguided step towards becoming the country that offers total freedom of speech to everyone but Conservatives and Christians??
The truth is there is nothing fair about the Fairness Doctrine. Liberal politicians have long relied on their willing accomplices in the also liberal media to forward their agenda and in many cases, win elections.When Conservative talk-radio emerged on the scene as a force to be reckoned with, these politicians got scared. They got scared of the truth about them and their policies and agenda that was being told to Americans by these Conservative radio hosts. So, because they are the gutless cowards that they are, rather than try to put a product on the air that is comparable to Conservative talk-radio, they instead offered up legislation meant to silence the competition. Now that's the American way. If you're not competent enough to compete with someone, then you shut them down. Or in this case, shut them up.
The bottom line is, the so-called Fairness Doctrine is not only clearly unconstitutional, but is also clearly un-American. What needs to happen is for all freedom loving, patriotic, conservative Americans to rise up and let our government officials know that if they support such an affront to the Constitution then that will be the end of their political careers. Let them know there WILL be a price to pay, and a heavy one at that. It's high time we the people take control of our government as our founding fathers intended, not the other way around as it has been. Take a stand America!!
BREAKING NEWS! - Simpson Sentenced
Orenthal James "O.J." Simpson has been sentenced to 33 years in prison following his conviction on armend robbery charges A Nevada judge rejected Simpson's apology at the sentencing hearing and called Simpson's actions "way more than just stupid."
He somehow managed to escape murder charges but was not so lucky this time around. It's nice to see a guilty person FINALLY get what he deserves!!!
What REALLY matters.
America has just elected Barack Obama as our next President, much to the delight of many and the chagrin of others. Count me in the chagrin category. I am very concerned about the Marxist/Socialist views he holds and expresses. I do however recognize and appreciate the historical significance of electing the country's first ever black President. A lot has been said, is being said, and will be said about the events that unfolded on November 4, some positive and some negative.
That being said, we need to look at what's really important. It really doesn't matter who our president is. What matters is, who is our King and how would He want us to respond to Obama's election? I personally believe that Jesus is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, and that he would want us to give Obama the benefit of the doubt and wait and see what he actually does as opposed to what he says, before we pass judgment. If he governs according to the Marxist/Socialist views he espoused during the election, then America is in deep trouble. And that is not passing judgment, that is stating an indisputable fact. If he does govern more conservatively than he campaigned, then we will survive. Afterall, we survived 4 years of Jimmy Carter and 8 years of Slick Willy Clinton.
The fact is, regardless of who is elected President, ultimately Jesus is still King and has everything under control. Why he allowed Obama to be elected I may never know while here on this earth. It could be that we need to go through some times to appreciate how good we had it under the somewhat conservative Bush. The Obama/Biden experience may cause us to get our collective act together, do the right thing, and elect a true, solid Conservative next time around. One can only hope and pray that is the case, and this one will do just that.
